Spring Travel Tips
What's the Spring Weather Like in the San Juans?
Springtime weather can be the most changeable of all the seasons in the Islands. Daytime temperatures shift from the chill of late February to a balmy March (53 degrees Fahrenheit on average), into the gorgeous days of April (57 degrees) and May (63 degrees). Showers are common, but with half the precipitation of the Seattle area, the San Juans experience fewer rainy days. As the locals say, "dress in layers" for any outing, with a sweater, light jacket, scarf and hat at the ready.
Farm-fresh food starts the season
Springtime brings fresh goat cheese, delicate baby greens, and fresh seafood. You can pick up spring's treasures at the farmers markets that start up in March on San Juan Island, and May on Lopez and Orcas Islands. Restaurants on the islands transform the freshest early harvest into culinary art. Check out our dining listings to find the perfect dining experience.
