Coffee In The San Juan Islands

Jazzy music, cozy couches, and a hot cup of coffee. That's the quintessential Seattle coffee shop, made popular by Starbucks. But in the San Juan Islands, coffee is brewed a bit differently. Cozy couches overlook sweeping island vistas, bustling harbors, and quaint villages. Jazzy accompaniment is often performed live by island musicians and that hot cup of coffee is locally brewed.

Island shops create their own blends, local roasteries keep inns and restaurants fully caffeinated, and regional favorites are imported to a few local stops. Find your old favorites or try something new as you explore the coffee options in the San Juans!

Skarpari is a boutique shop located in the heart of Lopez Village and offers unique gifts, custom handmade knives, seasonal food items, and organic roasted coffee. Owners Krista & Chris Stovall spent a year testing different beans before selecting this one; Sun Catcher Honduras Guama Danta Coffee Blend is a smooth, chocolaty coffee with notes of dried fruit, roasted nuts, and brown sugar.

Skarpari offers free samples of their Dark Roast coffee, served hot, or as an iced oat milk vanilla latte. Coffee tasting is available at their shop on Lopez Island every Friday and Saturday from 11:00am - 2:30pm. (Valid: 08/10/2022 to 11/12/2022)
