Day Trip Transportation Options

If you're having trouble making a ferry reservation (it's best to make them as early as possible) or can't find lodging availability, a day trip may be the perfect solution. Consider leaving your car behind and walking onto the Washington State Ferry, taking a water taxi, or flying via charter plane. No matter where you're visiting from, there are creative transportation solutions to make the most of your day trip. 

To San Juan Island

Travel to San Juan Island via the Washington State Ferry, plane, or passenger ferry.

• Drive or walk onto the Washington State Ferry from Anacortes. No reservation? Leave your car behind in one of the parking lots.  
• Hop on a scheduled Kenmore Air flight to Friday Harbor or Roche Harbor from Sea-Tac/Boeing, South Lake Union, or Kenmore.
• You can also fly with Friday Harbor Seaplanes to Friday Harbor or Roche Harbor from Renton or South Lake Washington.

• Ride the San Juan Clipper to Friday Harbor from Pier 69 in Seattle. (This route may not be available for 2024.)

To Orcas Island

Travel to Orcas Island via the Washington State Ferry or small charter plane.

• Drive or walk on to the Washington State Ferry from Anacortes. No reservation? Leave your car behind in one of the parking lots.

To Lopez Island

Travel to Lopez Island via the Washington State Ferry or small charter plane.

• Drive or walk onto the Washington State Ferry from Anacortes. No reservation? Leave your car behind in one of the parking lots.
