Ferry Walk-Ons & Terminal Parking

Many visitors choose to leave their cars parked at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal and board the ferries as walk-on passengers with their luggage and/or bicycle or kayak.  This is a great way to get to the islands if you are making a day or shorter trip.  Walk-ons don't need a reservation but will need to purchase a walk-on ticket in the terminal.

Once you reach the islands, you can use one of our many Island Transportation options, including a seasonal transit bus and trolley as well as car, bicycle and moped rentals (depending on the island.) If you're headed to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, the ferry arrives within easy walking distance to activities, attractions, lodging, dining and shopping. If you're headed to Orcas Island or Lopez Island, you'll need to check into transportation options in advance.

Make sure to allow enough time to park your car and walk to the terminal.  You will need to buy a walk-on passenger ticket and queue up to board the ferry at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
