San Juan Outfitters owns the exclusive private kayak launching rights at Roche Harbor, has kayak launching rights in Friday Harbor, and has access to launching sites on the west side of San Juan Island. With 3 kayak tour launching sites, there is sure to be a tour perfect for your party.
Guests will get the chance to view many seabirds, bald eagles, harbor seals, and possibly even whales. Interacting with invertebrate life, from sea stars and urchins to kelp crabs is a highlight of any tour.
San Juan Outfitters also offers 3 hour Family Kayak Tours that are fun for both kids and parents. Enjoy tide pooling at Posey Island State Park and a less strenuous paddle with our family-friendly kayak guides.
San Juan Outfitters also offers 5-hour tours with the opportunity to see orca whales! Depart on an orca & wildlife search by sea kayak from Roche Harbor and paddle through Haro Strait on the west side of San Juan Island, which is often frequented by orca whales. Or join a 5 hour West Side Tour departing from County Park. Both 5-hour tours offer great views of a variety of seabirds, eagles, seals, and chances to spot orca whales.
Have 2-5 days and looking for a little more? Bring yourself, some friends, or the whole family on a Kayak Camping Overnight Tour. Enjoy meals prepared fresh by our guides using local and organic ingredients and the opportunity to visit and camp on some of the lesser traveled islands. No time for a tour? Rent a sit-on-top kayak for an hour or two!
We also rent recreational kayaks from our Roche Harbor and Friday Harbor locations and stand up paddle boards from our Roche Harbor location. Rentals are perfect for families with children too young for our Family Specific Kayak Tours, or people who don't have the time for our guided tours. They are also a great way to spend an hour or two before or after one of our whale watch tours. Reservations can be made 48 hours in advance or are generally first come first serve.
Rentals are available mid-May to early September.
