Pacific Sand Lance Survey at Jackson Beach
Pacific Sand Lance are spawning! And Friends of the San Juans will be hosting community-friendly forage fish surveys across the islands. This is a transboundary effort with folks in Washington and Canada working to find forage fish eggs on the beaches. Join us in the field to learn about these small but mighty silver fish that feed salmon, seabirds, and orcas while helping document local spawning habitat. We’ll be sampling at Jacksons Beach on San Juan Island on Wednesday, December 10th, 4 p.m. Come get your hands sandy, meet your neighbors, and support transboundary shoreline science!
