Pacific Sand Lance Survey at Eastsound Waterfront Park with Tina Whitman
Pacific Sand Lance are spawning! And Friends of the San Juans will be hosting community-friendly forage fish surveys across the islands. This is a transboundary effort with folks in Washington and Canada working to find forage fish eggs on the beaches. Join us in the field to learn about these small but mighty silver fish that feed salmon, seabirds, and orcas while helping document local spawning habitat. We’ll be sampling at Eastsound Waterfront Park on Orcas Island on Friday, December 12th, 3 p.m. Come get your hands sandy, meet your neighbors, and support transboundary shoreline science!
