Back by popular demand! After selling out last summer, Maui-based artist Laurie Miller returns to San Juan Island for a second year of this beloved two-day immersive pastel workshop.
Join us for a joyful, hands-on creative experience centered on expressive mark-making, rich color, and the unique magic of soft pastels. Designed for both beginners and returning artists, this workshop invites you to explore both abstract and representational approaches in a supportive, inspiring environment—perfect for reconnecting with your creative spark or deepening your artistic practice.
Laurie teaches an intuitive, approachable method to working with pastels that emphasizes spontaneity, confidence, and creative freedom. An award-winning artist with a Fine Art degree from UCLA, Laurie is a member of the Pastel Society of America and the Lahaina Arts Society, with work represented in galleries throughout Maui and Kauai. Her teaching style is warm, encouraging, and grounded in decades of professional experience.
Held in the serene setting of Friday Harbor at Luminous Studio, the workshop includes live demonstrations, personalized guidance, and plenty of studio time to experiment, explore, and create.
