Orca Sing

Bring your friends, family, and a picnic to enjoy the beauty of the park and surrounding marine environment while listening to music! This year’s event has so many wonderful, talented people lined up to help us celebrate the start of the summer and Orca Action Month!

First Nations naturalists Odin Lonning and Orca Annie will speak and play Tlingit songs. Fred West will play instrumental music, lead the audience in a round of Amazing Grace, and say a few words about the origins of Orca Sing. The African drum group Sabu and local opera singer, Sarah Boden will be performing music.

The Sound Vibrations and The Island Chordsmen Plus will also be performing! The Sound Vibrations are a women's acapella chorus that has been around for more than 20 years and has a very extensive repertoire that covers traditional folk, jazz and pop music. The Island Chordsmen Plus is a barbershop group that was the first in Washington to include female voices in statewide competitions. Both groups are under the direction of Angel Michaels- an amazing vocalist, local conductor, and teacher!

Shuttle transportation is available through San Juan Transit for $10. Pick-up is at 6:30 p.m. in front of The Whale Museum. Return trip from Lime Kiln is at 8:30 pm. Sunset bus also available. A Discover Pass is required to park in the State Park lot.
