Westcott Bay Shellfish Co.
Westcott Bay Shellfish Company is a working shellfish farm located in the renowned waters of Westcott Bay on San Juan Island. On these tidelands, Erik and Andrea Anderson grow Pacific oysters, Manila clams, and Mediterranean mussels. The farm offers retail sales of harvested shellfish, and picnic tables for self-shucking. They no longer allow outside food or beverages at their picnic tables, as they now offer limited non-seafood items (bakery bread, cheeses, salads) as well as beverages for purchase. The best time to view farming activity is during low tides, and because the majority of farm operations take place on the beaches, they don’t allow public clam-digging or oyster picking. The farm is open to the public Memorial Day through Labor Day. If arriving by boat, there is a strict bow-tie only policy on the floats (dinghies only - no large boats).
