Farm Tour

Visit Ferry Boat Seeds of San Juan Island for an introduction to organic seed production and processing with a special focus on flower seed. This year, Ferry Boat Seeds is hosting a flower seed production trial, offering field day participants an opportunity for a deep dive into flower seed production practices and opportunities. The tour will also take in vegetable seed production fields and the seed cleaning facility. Brook and Louisa Brouwer of Ferry Boat Seeds have been growing and cleaning seed on contract since 2018. The Salish Seeds Project nursery produces plants, seeds, and bulbs of species native to San Juan County’s grassland and oak savannah habitats. This small, detail-oriented nursery specializes in growing rare and uncommon native seed for regional restoration projects. This outing will provide an introduction to production methods, contracting, and other considerations specific to native seed.
