2015 will be the 29th annual Fireworks Show! The day starts with the Lion's Club Annual Fun Run/Walk at 8:30 a.m. at Lopez Island Community Center. There is an electronically timed 10 K run, 5K walk and run and the one-mile romp. Great t-shirts and prizes. On the morning of the race, registration is from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. at Islanders Bank. Pre-registration will be available, so check the Lopez Chamber of Commerce website, www.lopezisland.com for details as we approach the holiday.
Then from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. is the Friends of Lopez Library Annual Book Sale at the Lopez Community Center. The Book Sale features a great selection of used books, videos, and audio books! Shop at The Friends Corner Store offering book bags, sweatshirts, T-shirts, hats, and mugs for sale.
The old-fashioned, small town parade starts at 11:00 a.m. on Fisherman Bay Road, and is sponsored by the Lopez Lion's Club. Come join us either in the parade or to watch along Fisherman Bay Road starting between the Galley Restaurant and the Islander Resort, winding through the Village on Lopez Road ending at Week's Road and Fisherman Bay Road. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. between the Galley Restaurant and the Islander Resort on Fisherman Bay Road.
After the parade, check out the barbecue and concert at the outdoor pavilion at the Lopez Center for the Community and the Arts. One of Washington State's most treasured celebrations, many come from all over the country to enjoy a "down home" themed parade and one of the most spectacular community funded fireworks displays you can find anywhere. Last, but not least, the all Volunteer Lopez Island Community Fireworks Committee puts on the biggest and best Pyrotechnics Show on the West Coast starting at 10:30 p.m at the Spit on Fisherman Bay.
