Traveling with Pets

Four-legged friends get the royal treatment in the San Juan Islands

There are many hotels, inns and bed and breakfast inns that have pet-friendly accommodations in the San Juan Islands. You'll find dog parks on San Juan and Orcas Island, and many shops in Eastsound, Friday Harbor and Lopez Village have water bowls on their sidewalks. You can bring dogs into Friday Harbor Pet Supplies, on leash.

Here is a filtered list of pet-friendly accommodations.

Transportation

Some local transportation companies, including San Juan Transit, allow pets on-leash in their vehicles.

Activities & Dining

Pets are welcome at Pelindaba Lavender Farm, and they even make special lavender dog biscuits available at the farm store or at their shop in town. While they ask that pets remain outside their organically certified production fields, pets on leash are very welcome in the cutting field, demonstration garden and picnic grounds. There are many wonderful photo ops for taking pictures of the “entire” family and if your pet needs a drink, just ask as they have various water faucets around the property.

Many local businesses offer Key Bank and Islanders Bank have dog biscuits at their drive-up windows.

Visiting English Camp, San Juan Island

The Port of Friday Harbor has a dog water fountain built into their human water fountain. Press a button and a stainless steel bowl fills right at dog height.

Roche Harbor Resort has deck dining that allows dogs at Lime Kiln Cafe. You can have your dog there with you at the table on the restaurant's lawn or pier. There are water bowls all around the resort.
