“Making Spirits Bright!”
Rejoice in the season with the Orcas Choral Society with joyful songs old and new. Treat your ears and your soul as we carol in the new year. It’s a glorious way to welcome winter and a warm, cheerful Orcas tradition of musical delight.
Artistic Director Marianne Lewis leads more than 60 Islanders in song, joined by Paris Wilson on violin, Karen Blinn on oboe, Jim Shaffer-Bauck on percussion and still more island musicians.
The Orcas Choral Society has been part of the Orcas Island community for more than 40 years. The chorus performs concerts every December and May and sings in the annual Music Advocacy Group (MAG) concert each spring. Over the years, more than 200 islanders have sung works ranging from Bach B Minor Mass to madrigals to, most recently, the world-renowned “Lux Aeterna” and other works by Waldron Island composer, Morten Lauridsen.
Beloved by all who enjoy the “music of the season”, the Orcas Choral Society’s holiday concert is one of the island’s premier winter events.
