The Fall Great Islands Clean-Up
Help us make the San Juan Islands Plastic Free! Join in the county-wide clean-up and collect litter from public beaches and roadways.
Litter collections will be taking place on San Juan, Orcas, Lopez and Shaw Islands.
Bags, grabbers, safety vests and latex gloves will be available at the San Juan County Public Works office on Spring Street during the week before the event, and on all islands the day of the event. Check with your island’s organizer for more information.
San Juan Island:
Join the county-wide greening event and collect litter from public beaches and roadways on San Juan Island!
Pick-up your trash collection equipment at the central meet location next to Bonnie's Creative Passions at 635 Spring Street in Friday Harbor from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
There is also a drop-in beach clean-up at South Beach organized by Friends of the San Juans via Pickett's Lane from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Join us on National Public Lands Day as we clean up the roads and beaches in the San Juans. Bags, grabbers, safety vests and latex gloves will be available at the Eastsound Village Green. Contact us ahead of time if you have a remote team and then meet afterward at Island Hoppin’ Brewery for free food and a pint!

To register to help clean beaches and roadsides on Lopez, please email Nikyta at [email protected] & to organize a team.
Registration will be at 10:00 a.m. at the parking lot behind Blossom with the usual yummy Holly B's treat and free coffee and tea. Parking available on the North lot. Come and register, sign up your team, pick up vests, grabbers, t-shirts and bring your own 5-gallon bucket to pick up trash in.
Join in the Autumn Great Island Clean Up on Shaw Island, on Saturday, September 28 to pick up trash from beaches and public roadways on National Public Lands Day!
Collected trash can be dropped off at the community building from 2 - 4 pm on Saturday, September 28 (GICU trash only). Bags, grabbers, safety vests and latex gloves are available, call ahead to arrange to get these. You can also call if you find things that require extra hands for hauling to the community building.
