This two-session class (Saturday and Sunday) covers the basics of human anatomy using ceramics. We will talk about proportions and figurative sculpture, as well as how to construct large-format ceramics. Students will be invited to make full-body figure sculptures up to 24" tall.
We will use photo references and learn about how to look at a figure as a sculpture.
Included in the class is access to our Wednesday open studios (5-7 pm) during the course. All clay and glaze used during class is included- additional clay is available for purchase for creating new work during open studios.
This class is taught by Alchemy Co-Founder and figurative sculptor Maria Michaelson. This is the first time Maria has offered a figure sculpting class in several years! It is a special opportunity to learn more about her unique process and explore the world of figurative work.
