Orcas Island Whale & Wildlife Watching
When “Free Willy II” was filmed in the San Juan Islands, one of our local whale watch operators played the Coastal Marine Patrol and took the cast and crew out for a whale watch tour to see orca whales in their natural habitat.
Whatever tour you choose, you’ll have the chance to see orcas, minke whales, harbor seals, Dall’s and harbor porpoise, bald eagles, ospreys, cormorants, great blue herons, and other seabirds; seasonally, look for Steller and California sea lions, gray whales, and elephant seals. Check with the tour company for reservations and to find out what marine life should be in the area during your Orcas Island vacation.
