Friday Harbor welcomes a new Friday evening experience, the Friday Harbor Art Market, just steps from the ferry landing, on Thursdays from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m., June 21 - September 20 at the Brickworks Plaza on Sunshine Alley. Approximately 20 local artists will feature a variety of creations for sale -- pottery, jewelry, photographs, clothing, sculpture, textiles, paintings, soaps, woodwork, and more -- plus local musicians will present live music throughout the evening. The Pacific Northwest Golf Association rates our golf course as the second best nine-hole course in the state. The Seattle Times calls it "the best golf in the San Juans." The layout has two sets of tees for the front and back nines allowing for an 18-hole golfing experience. The facility also offers a driving range, practice greens, and hand and power carts. The Whale Museum promotes stewardship of whales and the Salish Sea ecosystem through education and research. Visit us in our historic building in downtown Friday Harbor, only three blocks from the ferry landing. See our fun and educational exhibits about whales, watch free videos, and shop in our store, which features marine mammal art and gifts. Guided and unguided tours are available. For youth, we offer Partners in Science through schools on San Juan, Orcas, Lopez, and Shaw and summer Young Naturalist Workshops on San Juan. Lopez Island Golf Club offers year-round golfing on beautiful Lopez Island. A private club open to the public, LIGC offers a unique golf experience for all levels of golfers. Dawn to dusk, no tee times are required, with at most a brief wait. The course plays an easily walked 5304 yards (4702 from the forward tees). There's an extensive short-game practice area as well as a putting green. Our nine holes play as 18, with separate tee boxes and pins for front and back nines. [more...]
The SJC Fairground is a multi-use event center with indoor rental facilities, group camping, RV sites and year round activities. The annual Fair in August draws thousands of visitors and is a sweet, small town county fair with an arts festival feel and major fun for the whole family! The 14-acre fairground rental facilities include a 10,000-square-foot exhibit hall for large events; 1,800-square-foot building for receptions, parties, meetings, concerts, etc.; seven RV sites with full hookup and group camping areas.
