The Orcas Center is the focal point on Orcas Island for community theater and the performing arts, presenting both local and professional artists. Over 40 performances a year has this center teeming with artistic activity. The facility features a 213 seat  theater, a multipurpose community room, a fully equipped kitchen, offices and a beautiful lobby that functions as a gallery for the visual arts. Our mission..."to encourage and present cultural, artistic, educational, and social opportunities that enhance the quality of life for the community." Orcas Center, as a multipurpose facility, also hosts trade shows, conferences, retreats, wedding and other receptions.

Since they last graced our stage the Good Lovelies went on the Vinyl Café Christmas tour and they took home two Canadian Folk Music Awards for best Vocal Group of the Year and Ensemble of the Year. The aptly named Good Lovelies are Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough and Sue Passmore, all of them best friends who rely on unerring three-part vocal harmonies, clever songs, and convulsively funny repartee on stage.[more...]
