Arriving by Boat

Whether the San Juan Islands are your destination or a stop-off on the way to the Canadian Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, and beyond, you'll find their beauty and hospitality irresistible. Count on plenty of fine moorage opportunities throughout the San Juans, at a full-service marina dock or on the hook in a secluded cove. If you choose to anchor out, our local conservation groups have some recommendations to help us preserve sensitive near-shore habitats.

On Lopez Island, Fisherman Bay is the main destination for boats. The Lopez Islander Resort marina has moorage available for about 30 boats, up to 50 feet long. The store has food, bait, maps, tackle, and fuel. Boaters have access to the resorts swimming pool, jacuzzi, showers and laundromat. The resort also has kayak and bike rentals to get you around the island. Islands Marine Center on Fisherman Bay also has moorage for 100 boats, a small store, fuel and more. There are also 14 county docks in San Juan County, including Odlin Park, Mackaye Harbor and Hunter Bay on Lopez.

On Orcas Island, the main marinas are at Deer Harbor, West Sound and Cayou Quay, near Deer Harbor. There are also public docks at Madrona Point in Eastsound, and Olga Marine State Park in Olga.

On San Juan Island, the Port of Friday Harbor maintains the main marina. Roche Harbor Resort has 377 slips for boats up to 100 feet in length, and services such as power, fuel, pump-out, a store, showers and more. The Snug Harbor Marina in Mitchell Bay holds 50 boats and offers a serene place to moor your boat.
