San Juan Historical Museum

Start your holiday season off right by attending a time-honored island tradition. This event is the museum’s way of giving thanks to the community for its continuing support. The museum heritage structures will be decorated in holiday finery and the winter wonderland train set—a delight for children of all ages—returns again. Santa will be our special guest so have your smart phones ready for selfies with Santa.

Join in traditional caroling led by the Island Chordsmen and roast a marshmallow at the crackling fire pit. Warm up with world famous Ivar’s clam chowder, chili from Ernie’s Café, hot apple cider, and festive baked goodies galore.

All proceeds benefit the developing Museum of History and Industry.

Please contact the museum for further information at 360.378.3949 or www.sjmuseum.org

Memorial Park

Join in as Friday Harbor lights up the tree and raises a joyful sound! The Island Lights Festival kicks off the holiday season December 5, with the traditional village tree lighting ceremony at 5:00 p.m.

Bundle up and meet at Memorial Park to hear the Island Chordsmen Barbershop Singers sing great old Christmas songs. Community caroling (with songbooks!) comes next. The festivities continue with the Friday Harbor Elementary School Eagle Spirit Choir.

After the tree lighting, head up First Street to The Whale Museum for holiday treats & shopping. Find the perfect gift at Friday Harbor shops as they twinkle with lights and stay open late for business. There is jewelry, clothing, books, and treats for everyone on your gift list. The old-fashioned community fun keeps going all through December with holiday concerts, plays, events, dining and lodging specials.

6:30 p.m. Parade & 7:00 p.m. Santa's Arrival
Bottom of Spring Street

The Friday Harbor Sailing Club & the Port of Friday Harbor are proud to announce the 23rd Annual Lighted Boat Parade and Santa’s arrival to Friday Harbor.

For more than 40 years, Santa has brought gifts to children in the islands. The parade of boats with lights starting at 6:30 p.m. helps guide Santa to the dock at 7:00 p.m. This is a great time to bundle up the whole family and come on down to the waterfront for cider, cookies, carolers in song, and some warm holiday and community cheer. Boaters from elsewhere are invited to the Port for a free nights moorage with parade participation and local boats that participate will receive a nice Port retail goodie.
