10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Friday Harbor Airport, Friday Harbor

On one day each year the Friday Harbor Airport celebrates the aircraft as art, and opens the gates to everyone, free of charge from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for an up-close experience with lots of airplanes, many never seen on the Island. The Friday Harbor Airport Fly-In & Open House attracts antique airplanes, former military war birds, home-built, antiques, and more. In addition to wandering about the parked airplanes, the hangars will be open with displays by aviation-related groups and activities for the kids.

Vendors will be on hand, selling food and commemorative items. Register to win a free plane or helicopter ride provided by local pilots. Look for the free shuttle bus with the airport banners for rides to and from downtown. The popular Blackjack Squadron will be back, with their impressive formation arrival and landing. Keep your eyes skyward for exhilarating antique, classic and military fly-bys throughout the day. Food and gifts will be available for purchase.

The Friday Harbor Airport has become one of Washington’s busiest airports, while maintaining its small-town feel and accessibility. We are excited to share our love of old-fashioned aviation with our community! For more information, go to www.fridayharborflyin.blogspot.com or www.portfridayharbor.org.

Brickworks Plaza

"Eat Locally" is a way of life for many residents in the San Juan Islands. The San Juan Island Farmers Market features delicious island-raised produce, berries, colorful bouquets, eggs, and dairy products, as well as fresh local seafood, shellfish, and meats. The market also features freshly cooked and prepared foods made from local ingredients, grass-fed burgers, hot sausages, baked goods, pizza, crafts, and more!

The market is held outdoors on the Brickworks Plaza, in downtown Friday Harbor on Nichols Street, from April through October on each Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.. It then moves indoors for the winter to Friday Harbor High School on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays in Nov and Dec. Then it will be held on the 1st Sat of the month for Jan - April. The market moves back to the Brickworks building in April for another great season.

The Brickworks is Friday Harbor’s newest rehabilitated historic site. The building was built in 1920 to house The Friday Harbor Brick and Tile Company. Today it is the last surviving industrial building in Friday Harbor. The rehabilitation is expected to be completed in May 2013 and will expand the Brickworks Plaza by providing year-round indoor market and event space in an important historic setting.
