CELEBRATE THE HARVEST!  Join us in October for a celebration of island food and farms in the San Juan Islands. The Great Island Grown Festival offers a rare glimpse inside the unique world of island food and farming. Come together with farmers, restaurants, the island community, and visitors to celebrate farms, pastoral landscapes, food, and the island way of life. Enjoy a variety of events and workshops during October, in collaboration with “Savor the San Juans,” from canning classes and scarecrow making workshops to farmers’ markets and farm-to-table meals to barn tours and vineyard harvests. 

We invite you to “know your island farmer, know your island food.” Experience the bounty of island-grown goods— abundant produce, wine, shellfish, cheese, distilled spirits, and more. Immerse yourself in island agriculture through educational opportunities, outdoor activities, grape harvests, aquaculture, dining, and more. Hear farmers tell their stories, share their passion for farming, and educate visitors on what it takes to grow delicious and healthy food. Experience the collaboration between farmer and chef when you feast on fresh, local cuisine at “Island Grown” restaurants.

The stunning natural surroundings of the San Juans are home to orca whales and also to agriculture. The San Juan Islands are a unique and coveted destination for locally grown food and farming. The Great Island Grown Festival connects visitors to the land, the farmers, and fabulous chefs and entrepreneurs who promote and support local food in this magnificent environment.
